Winarch Group Releases Live Music Census

28th November 2024

The cost of living, transport and toilet queues are holding back live music, with 74% of respondents in the second annual Live Music Census saying they want ticket prices to be more affordable, while 50% want venues closer to home and 59% (mostly women) had concerns about toilet queues at events. The report found that the suitability and location of live music infrastructure was a concern, but also an opportunity to improve attendance at live music events.

New Report: State of the Industry

The Australian Music Association has produced a new report to add depth to the existing data and insights it provides for the music products industry in Australia. The State of the Industry Report, launched at the Industry Leadership Summit in Sydney, is based on a comparable report prepared by UK equivalent of the AMA (MIA) and will check in with the industry each year to measure business confidence, sales trends, employment, and issues. The 2-page Market Snapshot has been published, based on Market Report data, as the AMA has traditionally published in advance of the NAMM Show.

New Quarterly Import Report from the AMA

Throughout 2022 the Australian economy entered a period of increasing inflation and interest rates, creating difficult conditions for retail trade in consumer products. Unemployment fell below 4% early in the year and stayed there, reaching a low point of 3.4% and ending the year at 3.5%.i Wages increased at a faster pace than usual, with the Wage Price Index moving above 3% for the first time in almost 10 years. However, higher wages and low unemployment were matched with higher interest rates, with the RBA cash rate moving from 0.1% to 3.1%, and consumer price index reaching a high point of 7.8%.
