Creative Australia Launched

24th August, 2023

Today in Sydney, Minister for the Arts Tony Burke launched Creative Australia, the rebranded and restructured Australia Council for the Arts, now incorporating:

  • Creative Partnerships Australia (supporting philanthropic contributions to the arts)
  • The Australian Cultural Fund
  • Music Australia, a new entity established “to support and promote the Australian contemporary music industry to increase discoverability and develop markets and audiences.”
  • Creative Workplaces, a new entity established “promote fair, safe, and respectful workplaces for Australian artists and arts workers.”

Other initiatives of the Revive policy, to be introduced in 2024 & 2025, include a First Nations-led board, and Writers Australia.

The Minister, today and earlier this month, announced appointments to the boards of Creative Workplaces (including Kate Jenkins, and musician Ruth Hazelton), Music Australia (including Michael Chugg, Sophie Payten (Gordi) and six others in addition to Creative Australia CEO Adrian Collette).
