We have two releases and an update about our Data & Insights work overall.
Since 2023 the AMA has dramatically changed its data publication work, beginning with reimagining the annual Market Report (still our most substantial report) with a new methodology and format.
That format remains in place since the 2023 changes, with some adjustments each year. Notably in the 2025 report (released in June 2026), inflation adjusted figures were included in section summary tables while maintaining the traditional format for most of the report (original value, units, average unit value).
Historically the AMA has published a mid-year / financial year / ‘year to June quarter’ data release in addition to the main (calendar year) report. After initially attempting quarterly releases in 2023, the pattern of releases reverted to two each year (calendar year, financial year) in 2024 & 2025.
These reports include import data only. The AMA has been developing a number of other reports to provide a wider range of insights into the Australian music products industry:
- A new report on the ATO Small Business Benchmarks
- The State of the Industry Report commenced in 2024 and is now an annual release, presented at the AMA Summit in October
- The Consumer Insights survey was trialled in 2025 and the initial report was presented at the 2025 Summit, but not published. Being cautious about the validity of data presented, the survey will be re-run with a larger sample in 2026 and presented as a new baseline report.
