About the role
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Product Marketing Manager to lead the development and execution of our marketing strategy for the Guitar, Amps and Effects product category. This role requires exceptional leadership skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a clear strategic focus. Reporting to the Head of Product Marketing – Musical Instruments (MI) & Education, the Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth and profitability by generating market demand across both existing and new market segments.
Additionally, they will serve as the central hub for strategic planning and information sharing between the Marketing, Sales, and Business Planning teams, while providing strategic support to Yamaha distributors, partners and customers.
Key duties and responsibilities of the role
- Draw on your experience and coaching techniques to guide the category’s product team to:
- build and implement Go To Market strategies
- conduct comprehensive market and competitive analysis
- maintain an accurate sales and inventory forecasting plan for each product
- act as Yamaha Music Australia’s (YMA’s) experts in all products within the assigned portfolio
- reach their full potential and foster high performance
- Work closely with the senior marketing team to interpret global and local business goals and distil them into strategies that drive success in the Australian and New Zealand markets
- Incorporate market research and analysis into sales and inventory forecasting plans, and mould those plans to achieve sales, profitability and inventory targets
- Combine the efforts of the Sales team and Product Marketing team to build and implement a prioritised plan for sales enablement
- Ensure proper resource planning and expense control, record keeping and forecasting
- Ensure product information and pricing data is well maintained in all of YMA’s connected systems
- Check, edit and support the creation of copy and other creative assets as required
- Work with the YMA team to deliver events such as conferences, trade shows, consumers shows and product launches
- Contribute to the global strategy by sharing our analysis, planning and performance data with key contacts at Yamaha Corporation Japan (YCJ)
- Other duties as required
Your skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sales or marketing role
- Minimum 5 years’ industry experience with guitar product knowledge
- Marketing/Business degree or similar (valued but not essential)
- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire, convey company goals and strategic objectives to ensure the team understands the purpose behind their work and remain highly engaged
- Professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
- Methodical worker with highly developed time management, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
- Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to build and manage relationships and work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and Word
Other requirements:
- Some interstate and international travel may be required so must be able to freely travel and obtain relevant documentation (visa, passport etc) as necessary
- Must be eligible and able to obtain a Working With Children check as this may be required for some projects

This role is open to start in May 2025 and we encourage early applications. It is a full-time position working from our head office in South Melbourne. We have a hybrid work model in place, working Mondays and Fridays from home, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from the office.
