The overall result for the past 12 months has shifted from the previous quarterly report, with a 21% drop in value since the previous year when comparing July 2023-June 2024, down from 18% when comparing Apil 2023-March 2024.

Comparison to the previous quarterly report:

While there was a drop in value in the June quarter, like the March quarter the result was lower than 2023, 2022 and 2021, but higher than the average of the past ten years and all years up to 2020. This table uses the total value of imports, by quarter, in comparison to the same period in previous years.

Looking at the past year (Financial year 2024), there were fewer imports of Pianos & Keyboards, Electronic Instruments, and Guitars, as well as the fewer units in total, than any year in the past decade. Several other sections were close to the lowest result. As already mentioned, and clearly demonstrated in Table 4, value overall and across most sections is down compared to the previous year. That previous year was a high point and if you were to ignore the previous three years there would be a trend line going up from 2020 to 2024.
