THE COMPANY
For more than 50 years, Roland has produced innovative musical instruments that continue to inspire countless musicians. From the boom of the 808, to the sonic rainbow of the iconic BOSS stompbox effect pedals and plenty in-between, Roland sounds have defined entire genres and shaped the way performers bring their sounds to life on stage.
Be part of a dynamic team, where we believe in kindness, support, acceptance and hard work, and try to provide room for personal development for everyone.
Working as part of the ‘Roland Family’, you’ll find a friendly, motivating atmosphere. We are always looking for colleagues who share an enthusiastic, positive and driven personality; people who are eager to further develop and challenge themselves. If you also have a passion for Roland, our products, or music in general, you might just be our perfect match.
Roland Australia only employs people that fit the culture, so it is critically important to have a ‘can-do’ attitude, no matter what. The Roland Australia team is very collaborative, so whilst everyone has clearly defined roles, we always jump in to help people in other parts of the company if they need it.
THE POSITION
‘Roland Stores’ are dedicated areas within leading music retailers worldwide. Each Roland Store is managed by a fully trained Roland Product Specialist, who works closely with the host store’s team to deliver superior customer experiences.
As a Roland Store Product Specialist, your job is to manage the Roland Store retail environment where you can take customers’ aspirations and turn them into reality by showing them the benefits of Roland and BOSS instruments and equipment.
It’s all about creating and managing an exciting, inspiring Roland space; giving sound advice to customers, demonstrating the gear and running instore/online events. After training from the marketing team, you will also become the presenter for social media videos that highlight the applications of a product.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re looking for a Roland Store Product Specialist who really understands customers and can help find the perfect solution to their needs, particularly in relation to pianos, synth, keyboard, guitar and bass, drums, and dance and DJ products. Knowledge around current products and related technologies is important.
Events, workshops or 1-2-1 discussions—both online and in-store—are a key part of attracting customers to the Roland Store. Whether filming content, offering hints, tips and advice, or hosting an instore event with a local artist, your ability to deliver exciting, presentations or engaging conversations for customers is essential; you need to be as comfortable in front of the camera, or on the telephone as you are face-to-face in the store.
You will, of course, be an accomplished and skilled salesperson, with a desire to grow the retail business while consistently delivering Roland’s high standards of customer service. You’ll also need to perform the usual requirements of running a retail store; from presentation to stock control, to regular reporting.
Although you’ll usually be the person that greets customers in the Roland Store, it’s also your job to regularly train and assist the host dealer staff to ensure that everyone in the retail store is equally able to deliver an exceptional Roland experience.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Previous sales experience, ideally in a retail environment.
- The confidence and organisational skills to manage all aspects of a busy retail environment; merchandising, inventory management and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills, as you will be required to build relationships and interact appropriately with customers, the host store team, artists and the team at Roland Australia.
- The ability to be able to pass this knowledge on to others, and explain musical instrument technologies in simple ways and present real-world applications
- The successful applicant will be able to play a couple of different instruments to a reasonable level, but, more importantly, have a strong understanding about the applications of all musical instruments and can relate to different types of musicians.
- It would be advantageous if you had experience in presenting videos or creating social media content.
- The ability to deliver a fantastic customer-focused experience in a busy environment.
- A good understanding of music technology and practical applications of technological features, as well as the ability to absorb new information readily and easily.
