Scam alert: ‘AMA distribution list’

November 2024

Several members have reported receiving an email asking ‘Are you interested in obtaining the latest Distribution/Members List.’ from the Australian Music Association. The AMA does have an extensive list of industry contacts but does not share it, does not sell it, and the security of the list has not been breached. As far as we can tell this is simply a scammer that you should ignore.

It is easy to find publicly available information for AMA members through our directory, since the objective of that directory is to let people know about your businesses. Members can control what information they share there including contact details. Being able to identify and find contact details for members or professionals in the industry does not in itself indicate a data breach. Having said that, if you have any reason to believe a data breach has occurred, please contact us.

We manage data including contact lists according to our privacy policy.
