There are two main types of piano:

• A traditional acoustic piano
• A digital piano

Both are suitable for all kinds of players, especially the younger and less experienced. The prime area of difference is what is known as the action. The acoustic piano has a mechanical action: press the key and it moves a hammer, which hits the strings to produce the sound. An acoustic action is still considered the best for an advanced player, especially if they are playing the more advanced classical repertoire.
