Observations

• Like Flutes, there was a drop in units in 2024, but the higher average unit value moderated the change in total value which is also lower than the previous year but only a slightly lower than the 10 year average.
• Most of the change (drop in units) was in imports from China, and for the first time since 2018 Indonesia replaced China as the top country of origin. It is too early to tell whether this represents a shift in manufacturing away from China, or a temporary variation in supply in this calendar year.

Outliers & Data Issues

• There were no very low value outliers, but like the other Brass, Wind & Strings Categories there are of course small imports (one, or a few, unit/s) with a high AUV.
• Nothing was removed from this category.
