FIRST SPEAKERS Announced for 2017 AMP Conference

The conference event committee met for the first time last week and confirmed the first group of speakers and activities at the inaugural AMP Conference to be held at Seaworld on the Gold Coast, September 3 – 5.

We are very pleased to announce a partnership with NAMM, whereby we will present the very popular Alan Friedman and the NAMM Boot Camp. Focused on inventory management, and profitability, these sessions have been standing room only at the NAMM Show in recent years filling an Anaheim Ballroom with retailers eager for mentoring in these times. Some will remember Alan’s significant contribution at AMAC 2014, and the valuable take-aways provided by our last NAMM Boot Camp. This is a must be at session for retailers (and suppliers) wanting to do their best at being profitable. See Alan Friedman Biog here.

We are also excited to announce our first Keynote speaker, Mr Craig Scroggie. Craig will be known to many in the industry, firstly during his time with Brashs and Yamaha, secondly by his membership of Australia’s leading celtic band ‘Claymore’ and thirdly, in his role as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of NEXTDC, Australia’s leading Data-Centre-as-a-Service provider. He has substantial leadership experience within the IT and telecommunications industries, having held senior positions with Symantec, Veritas Software, Computer Associates, EMC Corporation and Fujitsu. Prior to joining NEXTDC, Mr Scroggie was Symantec’s Vice President & Managing Director in the Pacific, the company’s fastest growing region.

A music products man, in a significant leadership role in the vital technological world of cloud storage and hosting. A dynamic speaker, Craig will kick the conference off, with a session about the role technology will play in our futures. We are grateful to him for contributing his time, vision and expertise to the industry. His full biography can be viewed here Craig Scroggie Bio NEXTDC

As 2017 is the AMA’s 40th Anniversary, we are pleased to announce that NAMM is also sponsoring the conference attendance of its Historian, Dan DelFloretino, who will be in attendance to conduct interviews with prominent members of the Australian industry for the NAMM Oral History project. We’ll be contacting industry veterans over the coming weeks to organise these sessions – a unique opportunity to document the development of the industry in Australia over the last 4 years and honour those who have contributed so much.

AMA president, Brendan Callinan said, “our research has shown clearly that the industry will value an opportunity for professional development and relationship building and business”. The AMP Conference will bring together retailers and wholesalers in an environment of business and fellowship, providing time blocks for meetings and product presentations”.

We are also pleased to announce our first Event Sponsor in Aon. A valued partner of the AMA for many years, it is indeed pleasing to receive the support of Simon Calabrese and his team.

Registration information and more speakers and sessions will be available in the next couple of weeks. Accommodation packages are available at Seaworld or at other apartment style Accom  in nearby Southport. Family and exhibitor discount packages are also available for delegates to the Seaworld Resort activities.
