Optus 700 MHz Commercial Pilot update

Subject to final approval from the ACMA, Optus will soon be extending its 4G 700 MHz Commercial Pilot in Darwin to cover most of the Darwin metropolitan area under an “early access” licence granted by the ACMA.

Presently the Optus Commercial Pilot in Darwin covers only the CBD, but coverage will be extended to include Darwin’s northern suburbs and extend to Howard Springs in the southeast, with separate coverage in Humpty Doo.  Commercial Pilot sites operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week and are accessible by Optus mobile customers with compatible 4G devices.

Optus is also planning to turn on a number of sites in the St Marys area of western Sydney under an “early access” licence granted by the ACMA.  While these sites will be operated 24 hours a day 7 days a week, for the time being they will not be open for customer access but instead used by Optus for network testing.

Wireless audio devices that operate in the 703-713 MHz or 758-768 MHz frequency range may be impacted. Please advise us if you are aware of any specific risks to public or commercial use of wireless audio devices operating in this frequency range in any of the locations in which Optus is operating.

Reports of interference to wireless audio systems may be lodged with Optus by emailing us at trial@optus.com.au or calling 1300 720 086.
