Unfair trading practices protections for small businesses

Treasury is consulting on unfair trading practices protections for small businesses when they:

  • buy goods and services like a consumer
  • trade with other businesses.

The consultation paper asks for updated information about unfair trading practices in business-to-business dealings. We want this information to inform government decision making on laws to protect small businesses.

Business-to-business dealings includes when a small business:

  • sells products or services to another business
  • buys goods from another business to sell to the public.

The AMA is not currently planning to prepare a submission, members can consider making a submission outlining their experiences and issues. Contact Alex if you have suggestions for a broad framing of these issues, AMA can consider making a submission and/or passing this on to COSBOA.
